Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
People suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have experienced a traumatic event that is outside the range of normal human experience. Such instances can include:
- War
- Rape
- Sexual or physical abuse
- Near-death experience
- Natural disasters
Some manifestations of PTSD include:
- Flashbacks
- The need to avoid any reminders of the event
- A general numbing of emotion
- Panic attacks
- Feelings of helplessness

- Have you experienced or witnessed a life-threatening event that caused intense fear, helplessness or horror?
- Do you experience the event in at least one of the following ways?
